Of course it does. That's because the US has 350 million and Ireland for example has 4 million people. If half of Irelands population watched the show and a quarter of the US population watched the show (hypotheticaly), then it's obviously more popular in Ireland. Game of thrones is huge all over the world.

Here are my thoughts on how to get the full experience out of the show: Watch at least 18 episodes a day (Depends how many interruptions you get per day). Game of Thrones goes from some of the best television to some of the worst television. The show isn't bad, it just becomes disappointing. Black Sails, Breaking Bad and Six Feet Under if you're looking for shows the get better right through to the end credits. Ahh breaking bad, only my favourite show ever!
There is a reason why Game of Thrones has been the most pirated TV show on the net for two years running. It's 2014, people. The Internet is a thing and global instant access is expected. HBO really needs to get their head in the game.
If you don’t already own the standard blu rays, it’s absolutely worth getting the 4k set instead. 100%, especially if it’s only a $30 difference (~40c to upgrade per episode). Enjoy! Note: Be extra careful with the discs, as they are laid on top of each other in the cases.
